Trinidad Born Nicki Minaj Wins The Best Female Hip Hop Artist For 7th Consecutive Year

There was definitely a challenge in the BET 2016 awards for the category of best female hip hop artist as many new females artists have emerged between 2015 and 2016 as well as a few older ones who have been missing in action for a couple years. The nominees included Dej Loaf, Remy Ma, Missy Elliot, Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj.

The “BET Award for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist” and “Best Female Hip-Hop Artist” are awards given to honor the outstanding achievements artists have made in Hip hop every year. The winner is determined based on sales and overall quality of content released within the eligibility period.

There were many debates on the 2016 edition of the awards which took place on June 26th at the Microsoft Theatre which included endless tweets and facebook posts on who everyone thought would win but in the end Nicki yet again has held the title. Minaj is the first and only rapper to win “Best Hip-Hop Artist”, for both male and females, 7 years in a row consecutively. Guess other female hip hop artists will have to step their game up within the coming year.
